3PL Outsourcing
- Write a Request for Information (RFI) document to elicit information about how the 3PLs' capabilities and geographic coverage align with key attributes.
- Design the RFI in a manner that will facilitate comparisons across 3PLs.
- Select list of candidate 3PLs to receive RFI.
- Execute mutual non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with each 3PL.
- Send out the RFI, allowing the 3PLs at least two weeks to respond.
- Evaluate the RFI responses and develop list of qualified 3PLs to receive an RFP. Consider limiting the short list to three or four 3PLs.
