"I enjoy knowing that I make a difference through a company culture that supports my efforts."

Keith Hancock
Shop Manager

Con-way Freight, Charlotte, NC
With Con-way since 1989

What makes a great career? How about one you love that gives you time to do the things you care about? That’s the nature of the career Keith Hancock has found at Con-way Freight. As shop manager, Keith is responsible for maintaining shop compliance with EPA regulations, staffing, interviewing and training. This gives Keith the time and resources he needs to pursue his many hobbies, which include restoring old cars, building hot rods, collecting and restoring antiques, motorcycling, and restoring his 100-year-old Craftsman-style home with his family’s help.

The exacting passion he brings to the Con-way Freight shop extends to his shop at home, where hot rods and antiques are cared for, and vintage bikes and classic architectural details are reborn for new generations. It all comes down to values. Keith chose to work for Con-way Freight because Con-way’s culture and values align with his upbringing, and the way he leads his life — always striving for excellence. Whether it’s managing people in the Con-way Freight shop or fine-tuning a vintage bike in his home garage, Keith brings passion to the table, giving it his best and continually looking for ways to make things better.

Keith has learned that the company culture rewards his values. It’s a company that shows its appreciation for a job well done, and Keith enjoys knowing that he makes a difference. It’s also a culture where people build relationships with their colleagues. Naturally, Keith also takes pride in working for a leader in the transportation industry. Con-way has also given him the professional and personal growth that offers the kind of satisfaction that makes a “job” a career.

How did he get where he is today? While looking for a long-term career, Keith responded to a newspaper ad concerning a new start-up company called Con-way, and was hired as a mechanic in 1989. Keith has grown professionally over his years at Con-way, from mechanic to maintenance analyst to shop supervisor to his current position as shop manager.
