Driver Sales Representative Pierre Rousselle knew that he wanted to be a professional driver from an early age. He followed in his older brother’s footsteps and attended driving school in Kansas City, Mo., and is now living out his dream of life behind the wheel.

“What I enjoy most about being out on the road is the time I have to myself and being able to reflect on what’s happening around me,” Pierre explains.

Pierre credits his years of experience and Con-way Freight’s rigorous training programs for helping him, and other drivers, stay safe on the road.

“Con-way Freight uses a safety program called Smith Training and this is the best thing I could suggest to any driver,” Pierre says. “I have put my sons through it and they’re not professional drivers. Even with the best training though, there is nothing that can replace the things you learn from years of experience on the road.”

Pierre advises all drivers to recognize the importance of remaining aware of everything happening around them and offers some tips on what motorists can do to help improve their own safety.

“Whether you’re driving a car or a truck, you can’t just focus on one thing, you have to keep your eyes moving constantly,” he explains. “Passenger vehicles need to slow down and give others enough room, especially when driving around trucks because they are more difficult to maneuver. Everyone just needs to be aware and respectful of others on the road.”

When asked what achieving two million accident-free miles means to him, Pierre replies, “This a great honor for me, working for Con-way Freight has helped me keep a positive attitude and make safety my number one priority behind the wheel.”

A resident of Jackson, Miss., Pierre is based out of Con-way Freight’s Richland, Miss., service center. He has been married for 32 years to his wife, Mary, and has two children: Trevor and Thomas; and a granddaughter, Eva. In his spare time, Pierre enjoys spending time with his family and gardening.
