Scott BoehleDriver sales representative Scott Boehle knew from a young age that he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and pursue a career in professional driving.
“Watching my dad definitely made me want to drive for a living,” said Scott. “I like that I’m on my own while on the road, it gives you freedom that you can’t get working in an office.”
“I really enjoy the challenge of dealing with all kinds of different situations while driving,” he said. “But in order to be safe you have to always be expecting the unexpected. The car driving alongside you one minute could dart in front of you and then slow down to avoid missing an exit. You always have to be prepared for things like that to happen.”
When asked what motorists could do to help prevent accidents with trucks, Scott answers that if everyone could be a bit more courteous while driving and respect the weather conditions, then there would be fewer preventable accidents.
“There are people on the highway who don’t turn on their headlights when it’s raining or snowing, which makes them a lot harder to see when changing lanes,” Scott said. “Ideally everyone would have their headlights on all the time.”
Scott credits staying focused all the time while behind the wheel with helping him reach two million accident-free miles. He had been working toward this achievement since he started driving for Con-way Freight in 1986.
“Once I reached one million miles, I knew that I wanted to reach two million. It looks like three could be next,” he said.
A resident of Cincinnati, Scott is based out of Con-way Freight’s Cincinnati service center. He has two children: Katelyn, 19, and Tyler, 16. In his spare time, Scott enjoys working on cars, boating and riding his Harley Davidson.
